A video going viral on social media shows a Toronto customer harassing a pizza delivery agent over not having adequate change.

Despite the portrayal of Indians as successful and hardworking individuals in terms of education and economics, instances of discrimination against them while living abroad persist. One particular incident that has sparked widespread conversation on the internet involves a South Asian man enduring brutal harassment and racist remarks from a customer in Toronto, Canada.

A video titled “Me vs. the Pizza Man” is rapidly gaining traction on the internet, depicting a heated confrontation between a pizza delivery agent and a disgruntled customer. The footage has sparked outrage among social media users due to the customer’s disrespectful behaviour towards the delivery agent, who appears to be unable to provide the correct change in cash.

Customer called out for harassing pizza delivery boy

In the video, which spans over five minutes, the customer persistently demands that the delivery agent provide the change in cash, despite the agent’s explanation that he did not carry any change. The delivery agent clarified that the order did not specify cash-on-delivery, leading him to assume that the payment would be made electronically.

While he continued to try convincing the customer about whether the payment could be done by a card or other means, the customer emphasised that he has always made payments in cash. “That’s the exact money you have to give me. Do you think I never ordered before? Do something, I dare you,” he said.

Later, the customer was even seen hurling verbal abuse and racist remarks at the customer calling him a “dummy” and “stupid brown guy.”

The agent even sought assistance from customer service asking them to make a call to the customer. However, the man seemed in no mood to listen to his explanations as he continued making remarks on the ethnicity and passing explicitly at the young man.

With no other resort left, the delivery agent contacted customer service for the second time asking if they could get the change delivered to the customer, and rushed out of the apartment, leaving the food behind.

The video has widely gone viral on social media, sparking a lot of reactions. While many lauded the delivery agent’s calm and composed attitude, a majority of them lashed out at the customer for his rude and unpleasant behaviour.

A user wrote, “The delivery guy is probably an international student working hard to survive and study. The accent and handle of the Bully is allegedly of a black guy. Whoever it is black, white or other, its unacceptable and should be investigated and punished!,” while another wrote, “The delivery guy didn’t deserve this abuse at all..”

“Drivers should be mandated to wear cameras like police. Customers will behave more then,” another one commented.
