An expert suggested that the treasure that he found was likely hidden during the time of the First Civil War.

People often renovate their houses according to their preferred style, keeping in mind their future plans. They try to install good quality items and design them according to their own taste and liking. A person from England recently decided to renovate parts of his house, especially the kitchen. In order to carry on with the renovation work the floor needed to be dug. While the work was in progress they started hearing a clinking sound from beneath the ground. Initially, they thought that it might be the sound of bricks and stones, but later when the soil was removed nicely, they found a hidden treasure buried beneath.

According to a report by Live Science, Betty and Robert Fox, who lived in Dorset, UK had recently purchased a new home. There were various issues in the house that needed to be fixed. The couple hired a contractor to carry out the renovation work. As the house had a concrete floor, the workers started digging in order to remove the flooring. As the workers started their job, they were amazed to see a shiny ceramic pot. The pot contained more than 1000 gold and silver coins.

Robert decided to visit an expert to learn about the coins. The expert suggested that the treasure that he found was likely hidden during the time of the First Civil War. Robert sent the coins to the British Museum with the help of the expert. The coins were then cleaned there. A Museum official mentioned that the coins that were deposited existed during the 1640s. The coins were then made available for auction. The historic coins were valued at around Rs 63 lakh.

Julian Smith, a specialist at Duke’s Auctioneers, mentioned that the coins featured images of Emperor Edward VI, Mary and her husband Philip, Elizabeth I, James I, and Charles I. The auction of these coins was held on April 23. The Charles I gold coin was auctioned at the price of 5000 British pounds (approximately Rs 5 lakh). This was the highest-priced coin among the other coins that were auctioned.
