Miniature food videos are all over the internet these days. People simply can’t get over the small utensils, cutters, ovens and even food portions shown in these videos. What’s more, food enthusiasts have been experimenting with a lot of popular dishes on these miniature cutlery. A food vlogger tried making biryani — but in all things miniature — leaving the netizens quite impressed.
The video posted on Instagram demonstrates the step-by-step method for creating chicken biryani with small equipment and materials. In the video, the vlogger first takes a small handi and soaks a few grains of rice. Next, he chops small onions and fries them. He also cuts up a tiny piece of boneless chicken and seasons it with masalas.
He is then shown preparing ingredients such as green chilli, coriander leaves, mint leaves, garlic, and ginger. He chops or grates them and mixes them with the chicken in the bowl. He also adds a small amount of what appears to be curds or buttermilk. Finally, he garnishes the bowl of chicken mixture with fried onions, covers it, and sets it away.
The vlogger now assembles a variety of whole spices to give the biryani its authentic aroma and taste. He uses a small grinder to mix them into a fine powder. In a miniature kadhai, he adds ghee, marinated chicken, spice mix, and water. In a separate vessel, he adds water, ghee, and rice. Once the rice is cooked, he moves some of it to another tiny pan to begin layering the biryani. The rice is topped with chicken masala, which is then covered with another layer of rice. The vlogger topped the biryani with chopped coriander as his final touch to the miniature wonder.
The video has received over 39 million views so far and thousands of reactions from people who loved the authentic recipe even though it was made in miniature utensils. Many also praised his efforts, saying it is, “Extremely tiny & lovely.” Another person stated, “You are the chef of birds.”
Few individuals joked saying it is exactly the portion they would eat when counting calories. One user sarcastically commented, “When you are on a diet,” while another stated, “POV: doctor asked me to portion control.”
Some were also quite taken by the small appliances. “Your toy grinder works better than my real one,” said one user.
