A video circulating online shows a frustrated individual confronting IMAX staff after Kalki 2898 AD screening was cancelled due to technical issues.

The highly awaited Kalki 2898 AD finally hit theatres worldwide on June 27. The film saw tremendous demand in advance bookings and IMAX screenings. However, the excitement of numerous viewers turned to disappointment as several morning shows in IMAX theatres were either cancelled or delayed. A video circulating online shows a frustrated individual confronting staff at Cinepolis, Westend Mall in Pune after their scheduled 8:30 AM show of Prabhas’ latest movie was cancelled due to technical issues. The upset man is even seen demanding vouchers and complimentary snacks on behalf of other affected people.

The man says, “I have my job to resume at 12, 8:30 to 11:30 was the show, I have come here specially to watch at IMAX, why I should compensate my experience because of your negligence. Point number 2, we all have taken half days, leaves from our job and came over here, point number 3, you should have informed us, there was one more theatre we could have booked other IMAX. So these are the three points, you have to give us 10 vouchers per person if you cannot play this show, plus we’re going to watch a movie here itself, any other I’m okay with it and if it is crossing 11:30, refreshments are on you, we are not going to pay a single penny for that.”

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Matured way of handling the situation without getting mad.”

Another joked, “I need this guy to report to my ex-manager.”

“That’s how a real well educated men talks,” a comment read.

Sharing similar experience, another wrote, “Same in INOX, Inorbit Mall, Mumbai. 7.25 AM show started at 8.30.”

One more added, “IMAX Pune is worst, had similar experience.”

Speaking about the issue, a multiplex official informed Bollywood Hungama, “To start the film, a KDM (Key Delivery Message) which is like a passkey, needs to be issued by the distributor. Only then the film can be accessed and played. Many IMAX theatres didn’t get the KDM for the Hindi version of Kalki 2898 AD. Hence, they couldn’t play the morning show. The exhibitors had no choice but to refund the amount.”

“Many tickets were sold as it’s one of the biggest films of the year. The patrons were highly upset about knowing that the show was not happening. Some even got agitated. But we were helpless,” they added.

Nag Ashwin’s magnum opus, Kalki 2898 AD, features Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in key roles.
