Gaming enthusiasts have been on the tip of their toes for more than a decade now for the Grand Theft Auto 6 edition. The next iteration of the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series is widely awaited among gamers, especially after the latest trailer showed a glimpse of the graphics and storyline changes. It broke several records and became the most-viewed video in 24 hours. The gaming giants also confirmed a 2025 release date in the trailer. However, several rumours circulated online suggesting a potential delay in the GTA 6 release, and Rockstar Games might push the release date to 2026.
Now, it has been reported that Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, officially confirmed that GTA VI will be released in the fall of 2025, massively narrowing down the game’s long-awaited release window. Previously, the game had a very unclear release date of just 2025, but now gamers can buckle up as the game will likely launch in Fall 2025, meaning it will be released by Rockstar Games between September and November.
Meanwhile, GTA 6 will be available for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 at its launch, while its PC release timeline is yet to be confirmed. Set in the state of Leonida, the Grand Theft Auto 6 edition also has Vice City, which is a fictionalised version of Miami.
The Verge mentioned in its report that Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two in the company’s most recent earnings call said, “As we enter Fiscal 2025 with positive momentum, we expect to deliver Net Bookings of $5.55 to $5.65 billion (approximately Rs 462 crore to Rs 470 crore). Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI.”
Further, Strauss Zelnick stated that they feel highly confident that they will deliver Grand Theft Auto VI in the fall of 2025. He went on to say that the highly popular GTA V has sold over 200 million copies globally since its official release in 2013. It has also become the second-best-selling gaming title after Minecraft games.
It is worth mentioning that every big Rockstar game has been delayed in the past. Both Red Dead Redemption games were postponed twice, and even the next-generation version of GTA V for PS5 and Xbox Series X was delayed by an additional four months.
