Did Himachal Pradesh Police Take Handcuffed Prisoner to Taj Mahal? Video Goes Viral
The video depicts a handcuffed prisoner being shown around the vicinity of the Taj Mahal by a policeman, identified as hailing from Haryana's Karnal district.

A video circulating on social media purportedly showing a policeman from Himachal Pradesh escorting a prisoner near the Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh has sparked controversy. However, authorities have clarified that the officer involved was not from Himachal Pradesh Police, but rather from Haryana. The video depicts a handcuffed prisoner being shown around the vicinity of the Taj Mahal by a policeman, identified as hailing from Haryana’s Karnal district. Despite the viral nature of the video, officials from the Taj Mahal administration confirmed that neither the prisoner nor the policeman were granted entry into the monument.

Himachal Pradesh Police has strongly refuted any involvement in the incident, asserting that no personnel were dispatched to Agra for any official duties. They have further cautioned against misinformation and the spread of unverified news.

Mandi SP Sakshi Verma on social media, asserted that the viral video purportedly showing the Taj Mahal complex does not involve Mandi police. The department clarified that no Mandi police personnel were involved in any visit to Agra. Emphasising the importance of factual accuracy, police urged social media users to verify the information before posting.

What is the matter?

Police from Haryana’s Karnal visited Agra for an ongoing case. During their stay, a prisoner expressed his wish to see the Taj Mahal. Subsequently, a police officer accompanied the prisoner to the monument, but were prevented from entering the ticket counter due to restrictions on carrying weapons. The incident was captured on video and subsequently went viral on social media.
