A crocodile was recently spotted at Sethani Ghat along the banks of the river Narmada in Madhya Pradesh’s Narmadapuram. After this incident for a few days, the administration has increased security at the ghat. A board has been put up to prevent people from going to the ghat. It says there is a crocodile in the river for which bathing and worshipping at the ghat are strictly prohibited. Also, the administration has closed the way to the ghat by putting up barricades on the upper part of the ghat so that devotees do not reach near the river. Apart from this, teams of the Home Guard, Municipality and Forest Department have been deployed at the ghat.
An advisory was issued not to bathe at the ghat that apart from Madhya Pradesh, people from Maharashtra, Bihar and other places come in large numbers to the famous Sethani Ghat. Due to rain, the water level at Sethani increased. Apart from this, due to the presence of crocodiles on the ghat, devotees have been strictly prohibited from bathing as well as performing puja. Therefore, everyone has been banned from going to the ghat.
As soon as the information about the presence of a crocodile in the river at Sethani Ghat was received, there was a commotion among the local people and the administration. Given the festive season, the administration is scared due to the increased movement of people at the ghat. Because of this, the administration is constantly advising the devotees coming here to avoid bathing and worshipping at the ghat. For this, the administration has put up a flex board at the ghat and along with that, all security arrangements have been made by the administration. Despite all this, devotees, when given the opportunity, reach the ghat for bathing, risking their lives.
Earlier, a similar incident went viral. A ten-foot crocodile emerged from a canal and ventured into the surrounding region, causing panic in a town in Uttar Pradesh. The massive reptile was seen trying to scale a barrier close to the canal in footage taken by onlookers. The crocodile reportedly left the Ganga canal in the vicinity of Narora Ghat in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. The forest department and police were alerted by the people and they promptly came to capture the crocodile.
