During our school days, we were also taught how to write a formal leave application. We used to write these during exams and when we wanted to notify the teacher of a cause for a leave. Recently, a picture of an extremely honest leave application by a Class 7th student surfaced on social media that has left the audience in splits. Written in English, the application starts off fine and it is addressed to the class teacher; and is written in Hindi, but letters are English. The student wrote, “Mai nahi aunga, nahi aunga, nahi aunga (I will not come, I will not come, I will not come). It was the last line of the application that left the viewers burst into laughter. “Thank you. Aunga hi nahi main (Thank you, I am not going to come,” it concluded.
Soon after the post was shared on Instagram, the comment section was flooded with a slew of reactions from the users. An Instagram user commented, “Best application forever.” Another one wrote, “Sidhi baat no bakwaas (Straight talk, no nonsense).” A person wrote, “Principal bhi sadme mein hai (The Principal is also in shock).”
“It’s not an application, it’s an order,” a comment read. One person quipped, “You forgot to add ‘kya kar loge’ (What will you do).” “I need this level of confidence,” wrote another comment. Another person wrote, “That’s it, it’s over.” “Bro deserves an award for his literature,” read a comment.
Some users praised the student’s handwriting. “Extra marks for Good handwriting,” wrote a person, while another wrote, “Good handwriting kid”
The post has gathered 36 million views since it was shared on Instagram.
Posts like these often grab the audience’s attention online. Recently, a picture of a letter surfaced on social media that an applicant wrote to a company when he learned about an opening for an accountant position after the previous accountant’s demise. He wrote about his quick reaction upon hearing the news, adding that he personally visited the funeral to confirm the accountant’s death and then emailed his CV to apply for the accountant position and a condolence note to the company to confirm the vacancy.
