Have you ever heard of the term “mute monkeys”? These monkeys can be seen at the Shiv Temple in Ballia, located in Vidya Bhavan Narayanpur under the Bansdih police station area of Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh. In the temple, these voiceless monkeys consume 50 kg of grains each day, and their food has been arranged this way for years.
The temple’s priest, Raghav Das, a resident of Ballia in UP, has dedicated himself to idols and hundreds of mute monkeys. He claims that hundreds of voiceless monkeys reside in this temple at all times. The most surprising thing is that these animals never harm anyone, no matter the circumstances. The sight is both soothing and peaceful. Devotees come from far away to spend time with these monkeys after offering their prayers to Lord Shiva.
Raghav Das said that a human’s love for the voiceless not only brings peace to people’s hearts but also teaches a valuable lesson. The priest added that his attachment to these monkeys has grown so strong that he often seeks help from the local people to provide for their sustenance. He also asks people to arrange food for the monkeys.
Das also talked about the local people’s contribution to feeding these mute animals. He finds it heartwarming to see the unique bond between humans and these mute creatures. According to the priest, he finds a great deal of peace in his work. He believes that since these are mute creatures, humans must serve them.
The priest claimed that these monkeys mean everything to him. He added that whatever donations he receives at the temple, he uses to feed the monkeys. He also mentioned that when he falls short of money, he turns to the local people for food grains without any hesitation. Thus, he manages to arrange the food for the mute monkeys by collecting donations from the local community.
