Naidu initially became chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh in 1995, when he overthrew his father-in-law, NT Rama Rao.
Due to his role in establishing Hyderabad as a technological hub, he is among the few leaders who are popular in business and technology.
A well-known instance that supports this assertion is Naidu’s meeting with Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, establishing the tech giant’s presence in Hyderabad.
Thanking my friend @BillGates for attending the valedictory ceremony at #Agtech. Glad to have someone as generous as him supporting us in our crusade for agricultural transformation in AP. We hope to also seek directions from him in the areas of nutrition, health & sanitation. pic.twitter.com/tnJviG5Kdk— N Chandrababu Naidu (@ncbn) November 17, 2017
As for Naidu, he updated his followers on LinkedIn, saying he was “delighted” to announce that he will be taking up his role as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.
He continued by writing that Team TDP-JSP-BJP has been overwhelmingly mandated by the people to represent them in the Assembly with 164 seats.
He attributed the outcome to the tireless efforts of our local leaders, office bearers, and karyakartas, who worked every day to bring their team’s future vision to the populace.
He described their government as the “people’s government.”
He continued by saying that their administration would do all in its power to meet the aspirations of the populace and provide people-centred governance.
In the recent state assembly elections, TDP secured 135 out of 175 seats, and the Janasena Party, led by Pawan Kalyan, with 21 seats, and the Bharatiya Janata Party, with 8 seats, would back him.
