YouTube Now Gives You Special Powers To Report And Get AI Videos Removed: What It Means
YouTube is making changes to its content policies with the fear around AI-generated content on the platform that can mislead people.

The AI content threat is real on platforms like YouTube and now users are getting more power to make sure they aren’t duped by these videos. The platform is offering new AI-centric guidelines and updates that will ensure that you and I can identify any AI-generated video and report about it so that others also are aware.

The onus is equally on the content creators and YouTube will demand they reveal when they do use AI tools to edit or alter any content published on the platform. All tech companies realise the need for labelling these content, be it images, videos or even audio for that matter. YouTube will be offering its own version of labels that will gain prominence when you see a video of that nature.

Getting Strict

AI has been used to create videos and content can easily mislead people by morphing the visuals with popular celebrities which is nothing but the whole premise of the deepfake video issue. But YouTube realises that labels alone won’t be enough to curtail the spread of these videos. The platform assures that if any synthetic video violates its community policies, the content will be removed right away.

That’s not all, users also have the power to report such videos and share the details for their concerns as long as the content isn’t a parody or satire. YouTube wants to make sure these reports come via legitimate people and not bots operating in the wild. YouTube will give the creator 48 hours to act on the reported AI content and edit the parts or remove the video altogether to avoid further sanctions or penalty.

All these rules and policies sound great but it is vital that YouTube strictly adheres to these terms and doesn’t give the culprits any leeway which takes away the point of bringing these rules in the first place.
