New Delhi: Oculus, the virtual reality company owned by Facebook, said it would take pre-orders for its much-awaited virtual reality headset, Rift, from January 6.
The Rift would come bundled with the game, Lucky's Tale, and a multiplayer space combat game, EVE: Valkyrie, Oculus said in a blog post.
The company says this is the final product that will go on sale, not a developers' kit. However, it is staying mum for now on the price or shipping date of the headset.
The Rift will require a fairly powerful computer. Oculus plans a certification program so consumers can look for a sticker on PCs that support the Rift.
Oculus founder Palmer Luckey will also do a Q&A on social media site Reddit on Wednesday.
Rift "remains on schedule to ship in Q1," Oculus had said in a blog post last week.
However, the touch controller, a pair of motion controllers, would be delayed and shipped only in the second half of 2016, the company had said.
In September 2015, Oculus and Samsung Electronics unveiled a new version of Gear VR virtual reality headset for $99.
Samsung's VR headset is less powerful than the Rift and works with a Samsung phone rather than a PC.
