New Delhi: In an algebraic doodle on November 2, Google is celebrating the 200th birth anniversary of George Boole, an English mathematician, logician, and philosopher.
Owing to his discovery of the Boolean logic, he is considered as one of the founders of computer science. He also introduced the Invariant Theory - a new branch of mathematics.
Best known for authoring the book, ‘The Laws of Thought,’ Boole’s notable contribution has been in the field of linear differential equations.
His theory acts as the basis of modern digital computer and other electronic devices. According to Boole.com - a website dedicated to him, Boole took the principles of logic and reduced them to a simple form of algebra, now widely known as Boolean algebra. He passed away on December 8, 1864, at the age of 49.
Today’s special doodle is visible on a majority of Google’s homepages across the world.
