Vijay Deverakonda has finally broken the silence on his engagement rumours with Rashmika Mandanna. Recently, the Liger actor was speaking to Lifestyle Asia when he clarified that he is neither getting engaged nor getting married.
“I’m not getting engaged or married in February. It feels like the press just wants to get me married every two years. I hear this rumour every year. They’re just walking around waiting to catch me and get me married,” Vijay said.
Recently, the rumoured couple’s trip to the Maldives fuelled speculation about a possible marriage announcement, with expectations of an engagement in the second week of February. While their dating rumours have also been making headlines for a long time now, a source close to the couple then told Hindustan Times that they aren’t looking at being open about their relationship.
“They are not at all planning to go public with their romance, or planning to take their relationship to the next level by exchanging rings,” the source said and then added, “They are very private people. They have not gone public with their romance till now, leaving behind some hints making people wonder about their bond. The claim about them going for a big revelation and then getting engagement is fake because that is so unlike their personalities.”
The insider further shared that they are not thinking about getting engaged also because they are already living together. “They are living together, are happy and content with how their relationship is going, and don’t feel the need to get engaged at the moment. Also, they are focused on their work at the moment, so they are planning to get engaged anytime soon,” it added.
It should also be noted that neither Rashmika nor Vijay have ever accepted or denied their relationship in public. The two have worked together in two films – Geetha Govindam (2018) and Dear Comrade (2019).
