Rajinikanth opened up about his visit to Ram Mandir in Ayodhya with the press in Chennai. The Tamil superstar was among the few stars in the country who were invited for the inauguration that took place earlier this week. Others present at the inauguration were Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, Rishab Shetty and Amitabh Bachchan. As soon as he returned from Ayodhya, Rajinikanth was greeted by a group of media agencies. He told the press that he was fortunate to get darshans of the Ram Lalla idol.
“I had a great darshan. After the Ram temple was opened, I was among the first 150 people to witness [the Ram Lalla idol], and it gave me immense happiness,” he said, as reported by India Today. During his interaction, Rajinikanth was asked if he considers the inauguration a spiritual or a political event. He said, “For me, this is spirituality and not politics. Everyone can have different opinions, and it doesn’t have to match every time.”
In another interaction, Rajinikanth said he was fortunate to be a part of the historic event. “It was a historic event and I am very fortunate. Will definitely come to Ayodhya every year,” he said.
At the ceremony, Rajinikanth was seated in the front row and was seen chatting with officials before the event. After the Pran Pratishtha ceremony, the temple received a symbolic shower of petals from Army choppers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the people. A video circulating on the internet shows PM Modi and Rajinikanth engaging in a short conversation.
The Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is constructed in the traditional Nagara architectural style. Spanning 380 feet in length (east-west) and 250 feet in width, the temple is 161 feet tall. It is fortified by 392 pillars and adorned with 44 doorways. The pillars and walls of the temple showcase intricate sculptures depicting various Hindu deities, gods, and goddesses.
