Won't apologise to Nitin Gadkari: Anjali Damania
The RTI activist on Thursday said that the BJP President refused to help her when she approached him over the Maharashtra irrigation scam.

New Delhi: India Against Corruption (IAC) member Anjali Damania, who on Thursday claimed that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari had refused to help her when she approached him in connection with the Maharashtra irrigation scam involving top Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders, has refused to apologise to the Opposition leader after he sent her a legal notice.

"He can do whatever he wants. I will not apologise," Damania, a Right to Information (RTI) activist, said.

Gadkari sent a legal notice to Damania following her statements. Damania, however, refused to oblige. "I did get the notice but I refuse to apologise," she said.

Damania told mediapersons on Thursday that Gadkari had refused to help her when she approached him over the irrigation scam in Maharashtra saying he had a business relationship with the NCP.

Damania said Gadkari's reply shocked her.

The BJP, however, rubbished the charge, alleging that the "dirty tricks" department of Congress was at work to derail the Opposition's ongoing national conclave. "On the eve of BJP's national conclave a deliberate and planned effort is being made by the dirty tricks department of the Congress to defame Gadkari and to divert attention from the meet. We deny these baseless allegations," party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters in Surajkund, Haryana.
