Faizabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vinay Katiyar on Monday asked why his party should give tickets to people from Muslim community when they never vote for the saffron party.
Katiyar was reacting to Uma Bharti's statement admitting that it was mistake on the part of the BJP if they were not giving a single ticket to Muslims in the ongoing UP Assembly polls.
"When Muslims don't vote us then why should we give tickets to them," Katiyar told CNN-News18.Also Read: Not Giving Tickets to Muslims in UP Polls a Mistake: Uma Bharti
Katiyar also said that no Muslim will win in the fifth phase of the UP polls.
Uma Bharti had admitted on Sunday that BJP committed a mistake by not giving tickets to Muslims in the ongoing UP Assembly elections.
"Rajnath Singh ji is right when he said we could have given them (Muslims) tickets. But sometimes the winnability (sic) factor prevails both in case of Muslims and women," Uma Bharti said.
She also said that she will raise this issue with party chief Amit Shah.
The BJP has not given a single Assembly ticket to Muslims in the assembly elections.
The fifth phase of polling is underway today with high profile constituencies in Ayodhya and Amethi going to election.
