New Delhi: Just days after the standoff with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Election Commission has cracked the whip again. It has now ordered the state DGP to immediately arrest those Trinamool Congress workers who allegedly assaulted EC officers in Malda on Thursday.

The Commission's officials were trying to stop a TMC two-wheeler rally which is forbidden under EC rules.

The rally was being led by TMC's candidate from the Malda Dakshin seat, Moajjim Hussain.

This is the third instance of an attack on EC officials in Bengal by the TMC workers after similar instances in Habra in North 24 Parganas district and Howrah.
