New Delhi: In what could be seen as a sign of growing isolation in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ranks for Vasundhara Raje, the Rajasthan Chief Minister has cancelled her trip to Anandpur Sahib in Punjab where she was expected to share the stage with party President Amit Shah and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
According to sources, Raje was expected to explain her side of the story to Shah and Rajnath over allegations of her supporting former Indian Premeir League chief Lalit Modi's immigration plea in 2011.
The BJP has not come out in Raje's defence and sources say that an advisory has been issued to the party members to not give a statement on her. According to sources, the party has deputed BJP vice president Om Mathur to assess the fallout. Mathur is holding talks with state leaders.
"Congress has nothing to say aganist the Central or state government, so they are trying to make issues out on no issues," Om Mathur said.
Sources also say that the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Singh (RSS) is unhappy that BJP's internal politics is adversely impacting the image of the government.
