'Spell out demands to form government in J&K,' asks BJP to Mufti
The PDP, with 27 MLAs in the 87-member Assembly and BJP with 25 legislators, ran a coalition government headed by Mufti Sayeed for 10 months before his demise on January 7.

Jammu: With PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti continued to remain silent over government formation in Jammu & Kashmir, BJP on Thursday asked her to make demands clear.

The valley is without any government for the last four week after Mufti reportedly showed her reluctance to go ahead with the PDP-BJP alliance unless her demands were fulfilled by the ruling party in the Centre.

Meanwhile, BJP claimed that she is not clarifying what exactly she want from the BJP for a stable government in J & K. "We want her to tell us what she want. It is up to her to take the decision. We want PDP to make its demands clear and spell out what they expect from the BJP," BJP sources said.

The BJP said that its agenda is to ensure peace and development in J & K. "We decided to ahead with the PDP despite the ideological differences. The common minimum programme envisaged by late CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Prime Minister Narendra Modi worked well for 10 months," he said.

Mufti for the last four weeks playing hardball asking the Centre to announce confidence-building measures ahead of government formation in the state.

Talking to reporters after meeting Governor NN Vohra, Mehbooba had said the state needed a "good atmosphere, space and a fillip" if a new government is to be formed.

The Governor had invited Mehbooba and state BJP leaders separately as part of effort to end political uncertainty.

PDP, with 27 MLAs in the 87-member Assembly and BJP with 25 legislators, ran a coalition government headed by Mufti Sayeed for 10 months before his demise on January 7.

State BJP leaders who met the governor later asked for ten more days to end the political impasse.

Mehbooba said her father's commitments and vision are "sacred" for her and "if we want to have good government," measures should be taken to create "good atmosphere" for that.

To a question, the PDP chief said there are "no differences" with BJP but such measures should be taken by the Centre which will ensure that Sayeed's absence is not felt.
