New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear yoga teacher Baba Ramdev's plea to club all the FIRs from different parts of the country on his controversial 'honeymoon' remarks against Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi. Ramdev has also sought that that the police must be restrained from taking coercive action against him with regards to this case.
Ramdev had stirred a controversy last month by stating that, "Rahul goes to Dalits' houses for honeymoons and picnics." After massive outrage, Ramdev had expressed regret for the remarks.
The first FIR was lodged against Ramdev at Mahanagar police station, Lucknow, under relevant section of 171(g) (false statement in connection with an election) of IPC for his remarks against the Congress Vice President, which had sparked outrage with several parties and organisations terming them as "anti-dalit".
The FIR was lodged by police after analysing the video footage of Ramdev's statement and later FIRs were lodged in some other states.
