New Delhi: In a move to end the ongoing deadlock over government formation in Delhi, the Supreme Court directed the Centre to resolve the matter. The apex court has asked the Centre over what steps has it taken to facilitate the formation of a government in Delhi.
Directing the Central government to end the deadlock soon, the SC questioned why the MLAs should be sitting at home. It has also asked the Centre if it would keep the assembly in suspended animation as both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have maintained that they are not ready to form a government in Delhi.
SC made the observations while hearing a PIL filed by AAP and said that the Centre should take a firm view on government formation in the national capital.
Arvind Kejriwal had resigned as Delhi's Chief Minister on February 14, 2014 just 49 days after he assumed office along with his six colleagues as his government failed to table the Jan Lokpal Bill in the Assembly following a high-voltage clash with Congress and BJP MLAs on the floor of the House.
