PM has realised threat from Pakistan: Advani
The PM had called cross-border terror "India's most pervasive threat".

Shimla: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani on Tuesday said he was happy Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had realised there was terror threat emanating from Pakistan.

Advani, who arrived in Shimla for his party's three-day chintan baithak (brainstorming session) beginning Wednesday, told reporters: "The PM's (Monday) statement is contradictory to what he had said earlier, but I am happy that he has realised (the threat from Pakistan)."

He was referring to the Prime Minister's remarks at the chief ministers' conference on internal security on Monday that terrorist groups in the neighbouring country were plotting attacks on India.

Manmohan Singh had said: "There is credible information of ongoing plans of terrorist groups in Pakistan to carry out fresh attacks" and warned of fresh infiltration from across the border.

The Prime Minister also described cross-border terrorism as "the most pervasive threat" facing India and stressed the need for continuing vigilance.

Referring to the July 16 India-Pakistan joint statement in Egypt in which the prime minister had agreed to delink terror from the dialogue process between the two countries, leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Advani wondered: "Now, how will the Prime Minister make consensus on his previous statement and this statement?"

Advani, who reached the Peterhoff hotel where the chintan baithak would be held, refused to discuss anything about this meeting.
