New Delhi: Former Goa minister Mickey Pacheco, accused in the murder of his lady friend Nadia Torrado, is in for more trouble. Now, the Bureau of Diplomatic Security - a unit of the US state Department, has told India that the former minister may be involved in a global immigration and money laundering racket.

Government sources said the the Bureau of Diplomatic Security has backed the allegations with documents and details of banking transactions. The CBI is now assessing documents handed over by the United States.

The evidence is being described as "substantive and watertight". Pacheco was arrested on July 9 in connection with the murder of Nadia Torrado, but is now out on bail.

Pacheco, resigned as minister on June 6 following allegations of his involvement in the mysterious death of his companion Nadia Torrado. He was arrested on July 9 and bailed on July 26 — around the same time when the US first alerted India about his alleged role in the racket.
