Mumbai: Yet another shocking instance of political high-handedness. Senior Congress leader Narayan Rane's son Nitesh Rane and 8 others allegedly assaulted three workers in this toll booth on the Mumbai-Goa highway. The Goa police have booked the Nitesh for rioting and assaulting a public servant.
Meanwhile, a defiant Nitesh Rane has said that this a political issue between Goa and Maharashtra. A close aide of Nitesh told CNN-IBN that he didn't assault anyone instead his security guard was roughed up by the toll booth workers. While no tool is taken while entering Mumbai, it is being taken while entering Goa.
This isn't the first instance of a politician taking the law into their hands. Few months ago, a NCP councillor vandalised a toll booth at Jalna in Maharashtra after getting into an altercation. This incident once again highlights the vulgar display of muscle power.
