National parties are losing relevance as they have failed to bring solace to the people, Yeddyurappa said.

Gulbarga: Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa on Friday said though regional parties were a "failure' in the state earlier, Karnataka Janata Party, the new party to be launched by him next month, would play a stellar role in the changed political scenario. "Though regional parties have failed to sustain themselves earlier in Karnataka, Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) will play a vital role in changed political scenario in the state," he said.

Yeddyurappa had already announced that he would launch KJP on December nine after resigning from BJP and also his Assembly membership by first week of December. National parties are losing relevance as they have failed to bring solace to the people, he said.

Yeddyurappa said ministers and legislators in the BJP Government who were supporting him, have been given "liberty" either to attend or abstain from the function to launch the KJP, to be held at Haveri. Yeddyurappa said he had no intentions to bring down the Jagadish Shettar government and there was no way he could return to BJP.

He visited Sharanabasaveswara Temple and Budha Vihar in the city and performed pooja. Minister Revunaik Belamagi and legislator Sunil Vallyapure accompanied him.
