David Headley in his deposition in a Mumbai court said 19-year-old Ishrat Jahan was a Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist who was killed in an encounter on June 15, 2004.

Patna: Bihar Health Minister Tej Pratap on Friday called Ishrat Jahan "Bihar's daughter", a day after terror mastermind David Coleman Headley said she was an LeT suicide bomber.

This comes at a time when the BJP is demanding an apology from JD(U) party leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for reportedly calling her the same in 2004 shortly after she died in an encounter with the Gujarat Police.

Union minister Giriraj Singh said Nitish Kumar had compromised on national security by playing vote bank politics over Ishrat's death.

BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain, a former MP from Bihar, also said those who earlier called Ishrat, Bihar’s daughter should now make their stand clear after Headley’s deposition in court.

On Thursday, Headley in his deposition in a Mumbai court via telelink from his US prison said 19-year-old Ishrat Jahan was a Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist who was killed in an encounter on June 15, 2004.

Ishrat's family has been alleging that she was killed in a fake encounter by the Gujarat Police.
