Jammu: Supporting Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee's demand of replacing Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said that her agenda has always been pro-poor.
"(West Bengal Chief Minister) Mamata's agenda has always been pro-people and pro-poor," Mufti said while defending Banerjee's move.
"Mamata is all the time doing what she thinks is good. I do not think you can blame her for being pro-poor," Mehooba said.
Mehbooba was replying to a question regarding Banerjee's demand of sacking of the Railway Minister.
Angered by Trivedi's proposal contained in the Railway Budget on Wednesday, Banerjee had written to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last night seeking his removal.
To a question on Akhilesh becoming the youngest Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mehbooba said, "Akhilesh is somebody who has come from the grass root level-- I do not think he was imposed from the top which usually happens in other places".
"I wish him good luck and I hope that Akhilesh will come up to the expectations of the people of the UP who have backed him," said the PDP Chief.
To another question about Omar's twitter on her, she said "we should better discuss corruption particularly in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), bungling by the ministers rather than what Omar Abdullah said on twitter".
She alleged that every partner and ally of the UPA-2 is following its own agenda, and the dispensation is being seen as presiding over the system of corruption and that has taken away the sheen from its leadership.
"You know, UPA-2 is being seen as presiding over the system of corruption... and that has taken the sheen away from their leadership," Mehbooba said.
