New Delhi: Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee is on a collision course with her predecessor Lalu Prasad and has reportedly decided to revoke his decision to extend free rail travel for former railway ministers.
"I will examine the issue," she replied when asked if she would cancel Lalu's order.
Lalu had extended free rail travel to former railway ministers just three days before he went out of office.
Lalu's order said former rail ministers would get lifelong free travel in the AC First Class along with three companions.
But reports claimed Mamata believed Lalu misused his office to avail the benefit himself.
Former railway minister Ram Naik had also asked Mamata to withdraw Lalu's order.
"I have received it and I agree with Naik. Allowing one or two companions is okay. Issuing four free passes would rob the common man of berths," the Railway Minister said.
There is also provision for an attendant to travel in Second AC Sleeper Class.
