Mandsaur: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday, at a rally in Mandsaur, announced that the farmers' loan would be waived off within 10 days if his party comes to power in Madhya Pradesh later this year.
"Here Kamal Nath (MP Congress President) and Jyotiraditya Scindia (the State poll campaign committee chairman) are sitting. I want to assure you that within 10 days of coming to power in Madhya Pradesh, the government will waive (farmers') loan," Rahul said.
Gandhi, who was in Mandsaur to pay tributes to six farmers who died in police action last year, alleged whether it is PM Modi’s government, or CM Shivraj’s government or any other BJP government, they have no place for farmers in their hearts.
A combative Rahul Gandhi also promised that a government of his party in the state would take action against those responsible for the police firing on farmers on this day last year. "The Centre can easily waive off Rs 2.5 lakh owned by a corporate but can’t write off a single rupee of crores of farmers," alleged the Congress president.

Gandhi reminded the gathering that UPA government had waived off farmers’ loans up to Rs 70,000 crore. Slamming the governments at Centre and state, Gandhi claimed that if any government can’t safeguard farmers then that government is of no use.
Claiming that he was told around 1200 farmers have committed suicide in MP, the Congress president questioned whether a single industrialist ended life despite having lakhs and crores of outstanding loans against him.
“People like Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi are allowed to flee without paying loans while farmers are left to die under debts,” said Rahul.
Alleging that the PM allowed Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksy to flee with Rs 30,000 crore, Gandhi claimed that the amount could have waived off MP farmers’ loans twice.
The Congress chief claimed that UPA used to hike Minimum Support Price persistently while in BJP government, farmers are running behind MSP all the time.
Accusing the Prime Minister Modi of allowing Chinese products to flood Indian markets, Gandhi expressed hope that he wishes to return to Mandsaur in five years and see a mobile phone with 'Made in Mandsaur' tag.
He also said he would like to see people in Chinese capital get Mandsaur’s garlic in next ten years. “We would develop food processing chain in Mandsaur with the network of roads that links villages directly to factories and we would hire farmers’ kids in the food processing units,” said Rahul.
Attacking PM Modi on his pre-poll promises of offering two crore jobs every year and depositing Rs 15 lakh in each citizen’s bank account, Gandhi asked whether a single man present here got Rs 5 from PM Modi, forget about Rs 15 lakh.
Gandhi claimed he visited PM Modi’s office only once and that too for raising the plight of farmers.
The Congress president asked party workers to go among the public and tell them about what happened with farmers, youths and Vyapam scam. Gandhi also met families of farmers who died in police firing last year.
