Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti and Aam Aadmi Party candidate Tanveer Maqbool Dar on Tuesday filed their nominations for Anantnag Lok Sabha seat in Kashmir which will go to polls on April 17.
Accompanied by party MLAs from south Kashmir, Mehbooba submitted her documents to Additional Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Mohammad Yousuf.
The PDP leader has represented the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat from 2004 to 2009.
Mehbooba said that her party would seek people's mandate for building a consensus in Parliament for resolution of the Kashmir issue.
"We want problems and issues of people of the state to be addressed by Parliament. So far, we have seen our MPs look for ministerial berths for themselves and after their tenure ends, they look for some sort of rehabilitation for their children," she said.
AAP nominee Dar, son of former Union Minister of State for Home Mohammad Maqbool Dar, along with his supporters staged a brief protest outside the office of the Returning Officer as he had to wait for nearly three hours to submit his papers.
The delay was caused as election officials were checking the documents of the PDP president.
