New Delhi: The Lok Sabha on Tuesday unanimously accepted a resolution against Team Anna for their derogatory remarks on Members of Parliament made during Anna Hazare's fast at Jantar Mantar on Sunday. Speaker Meira Kumar adopted the Sharad Yadav-moved resolution after leaders of various political parties expressed their views on the motion.
"Any remark lowering the dignity and esteem of the House is unwarranted and unacceptable," said Meira Kumar.
Addressing protesters at Jantar Mantar during Anna Hazare's fast on Sunday, Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal said that Parliament is full of robbers or people who have murder cases and rape cases against them.
He said 162 MPs have criminal cases against them which include 20 with attempt to murder cases.
Kejriwal even took the names of around 25 politicians, including ministers Sharad Pawar, SM Krishna, P Chidambaram, Praful Patel, Kapil Sibal, Kamal Nath, Farooq Abdullah, Ajit Singh, Sri Prakash Jaiswal, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Vilasrao Deshmukh, MK Azhagiri and GK Vasan.
"If Lokpal Bill comes into force, FIRs will be lodged against 14 ministers of the Union Government," said Kejriwal.
All the political parties unite on Tuesday in the Lok Sabha to criticise Team Anna.
After Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee completed his replies on the Budget, JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav moved a resolution against Team Anna for their remarks on MPs.
"If respect of the House is denigrated how will the nation progress? Solution has to be found in the House," said Yadav.
Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said, "It's a privilege issue. Team Anna should be summoned to Parliament. I hope the entire House unites on the issue."
National Conference (NC) chief Farooq Abdullah said, "We are here to do service for the nation and not to get abused. If I have taken even one penny I will leave politics."
"The crowd, which gathered at Jantar Mantar made Team Anna speak like this. Jokers act when crowd goes up. Team Anna should be summoned to Parliament," said Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader TKS Elangovan.
Criticising some MPs for sharing dais with Team Anna, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh said, "There are some people amongst us who goes to Jantar Mantar, Ramlila Maidan more than once."
