New Delhi: In a move that could create some trouble for the ruling UPA combine, key ally LJP has decided to contest all 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand alone.
"We have first zeroed in on six seats in Jharkhand to contest where we have good presence. The party will, however, contest on all 14 seats and will announce its candidates phase wise," Union Minister and LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan said.
After a meeting of senior leaders, the party announced to field candidates from Palamu, Chatra, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Koderma and Hazaribagh.
The party also announced candidates for three seats - Veerendra Pradhan for Dhanbad, former MP Ranjit Singh from Chatra and Nityanand Mahto from Hazaribagh.
Sources say that there was some initial talk of involving LJP as well in the seat sharing and some discussions regarding it had taken place between RJD and LJP leaders.
However, later the three UPA constituents in Jharkhand - Congress, JMM and RJD -- finalised the seat sharing talks on the "sitting getting" and "no friendly fight" formulae in the state a few days ago.
Of the 14 Lok Sabha seats of Jharkhand, Congress had won 6, JMM-4, RJD-3, CPI-1 and BJP-1 in the last Lok Sabha election in 2004.
