JMM may fight Assembly polls alone: Soren
Shibu Soren says JMM is considering breaking away from the UPA.

Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Chief Shibu Soren on Saturday said it may break away from the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and contest all seats in the Assembly elections due by March next year.

"The party workers are in favour of fighting Assembly elections alone in the state. We may field our candidates on the all the Assembly seats," Soren told reporters.

Jharkhand has been under president's rule since Jan 19 after Soren lost an Assembly by-poll and resigned as the chief minister.

In the April-May Lok Sabha elections, the JMM and the Congress had a seat sharing deal.

"In Jharkhand, the (UPA) alliance seems to be in tatters. Wait for sometime, everything will be clear," he said.

The JMM charges the Congress of sidelining it in the state. Soren, despite being a Lok Sabha MP, was denied a cabinet berth in the second UPA Government that took oath in May this year.

"The state Assembly should be immediately dissolved and elections should held to install a popular government," Soren said.

Parliament in July extended President's Rule in the state till January 19 next year.
