Jayalalithaa says the DMK govt has let the people down by accepting Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal's verdict.

Chennai: It seems AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa leaves no chances in taking pot shots at the Karunanidhi led state government.

On Tuesday, Jayalalithaa said that the DMK government has let the people down by accepting the verdict of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal on water sharing of the river.

Claiming that the Tribunal's final award did not do "full justice" to Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa on Tuesday said that the state should move the Supreme Court to get more water from the river.

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi should resign owning moral responsibility for his "failure in getting full justice" to the state, Jayalalithaa said in a statement.

She said the Tribunal's final award of 192 TMC feet of water was very less compared to 205 TMC feet allocated by the interim court order.

The AIADMK supremo added that the Cauvery verdict is unfair on Tamil Nadu. She indicated that the final award reduces the release of water from Karnataka when compared to the 1991 interim award.

She claims DMK government has let the people down by accepting the verdict.
