Jagan Reddy defiant, says he will continue yatra
Senior party leaders have warned Congress MP against continuing with his 'Odarpu Yatra'

Hyderabad: Congress MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Sunday said he will continue his controversial 'Odarpu Yatra' (consolation tour) though his party’s senior leaders have warned him against it.

"Who said that the yatra will not continue ?" Reddy told reporters in Anantapur. He, however, did not clarify whether he will visit Srikakulam district from June 8 as scheduled.

Several Congress MLAs and party leaders have reportedly told Reddy, Lok Sabha MP Kadapa, not to continue with the award.

Jagan met Law Minister Veerappa Moily, who is the Congress’s in-charge for Andhra Pradesh, last week in Delhi and later told reporters that the party has allowed him to undertake the yatra.

His claim was, however, dismissed by Moily, who said the Kadapa MP should not continue with his tour.

Jagan had defied the high command's instruction and went ahead to tour Warangal district in Telangana region, which sparked off violent protests from the Telangana agitators forcing him to abandon the yatra.

Jagan's tour is to console the family members of those who allegedly committed suicide or died of shock following the death of his father, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in a chopper crash last year.
