New Delhi: Condolence messages poured in from India Inc following the sudden demise of Union Minister Gopinath Munde, who died in a road accident on Tuesday morning.

"We are deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Gopinath Munde, Minister of Rural Development, Panchyati Raj & Drinking Water and Sanitation. We share our deepest condolences with his family and our fellow countrymen.

"Shri Munde was not only a visionary but a 'karmayogi' who will continue to inspire us in Indian industry," Ficci President Sidharth Birla said.

64-year-old Munde, the Rural Development Minister and the OBC face of BJP in Maharashtra, died of shock and cardiac arrest suffered during a road accident early on Tuesday morning.

"The Indian industry which was feeling very optimistic after assuming of office by the NDA Government, today felt shocked and saddened by the untimely demise of Gopinath Munde, the grassroot leader who had risen from a humble background from the country's rural landscape," Assocham President Rana Kapoor said.

Expressing deep sorrow and profound grief over Munde's demise, PHD Chamber of Commerce President Sharad Jaipuria described the leader as a stalwart, whose contribution to Indian politics would be remembered for years.

Munde, who made his entry into the Union Cabinet for the first time after the Lok Sabha polls, was on his way to the airport when his car was hit by another vehicle.
