New Delhi: A week after Jayalalithaa's death, RSS ideologue S Gurumurthy has dropped a bombshell by demanding a probe into the medical treatment given to the late former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
This comes, few days after actress Gauthami demanded a similar probe saying the secrecy around Jayalalitha's illness and her time in hospital was a cause of suspicion.
J Jayalithaa passed away on December 5 late night at Apollo Hospital in Chennai after being admitted following a cardiac arrest.
Here are the excerpts of S Gurumurthy's exclusive interview with CNN-News18's Executive Editor Bhupendra Chaubey:
Bhupendra: There are many who are asking for probe into the circumstances that led to the death of Jayalalitha. Do you think should there be a probe? There are some who are suspecting foul play.
Gurumurthy: Jayalalitha was in hospital for 50 days, she was ailing for months and in these cases let us assume you have to administer medicine to her which is risky. Who will you consider, you should consult a relative or somebody. If there is no relative who did they consider? Its an issue because its an issue concerning medical discipline. We need to go into who did the wrong thing or something. Whether the medical discipline was observed or not is a matter of enquiry.
Bhupendra: Do you think that AIADMK as a political outfit can continue in existence post Amma?
Gurumurthy: AIADMK as a political outfit was sustained by anti-DMK vote bank, the anti-DMK votebank so long as it continues. The AIADMK as a party will be a very potent party but it is true that AIADMK does not have a one mentionable leader. So how will they manage in the coming months to work out arrangement among themselves. Power can be a great binding factor, it can also be a dividing factor but one thinks AIADMK is used to obedience.
Bhupendra: Do you believe Sasikala is a kind of person who can still generate that kind of obedience?
Gurumurthy: I don't think so. Unfortunately having being so close to Jayalalitha, she is probably the person who has been seen as the one responsible for all the wrong things that have happened so the people at the bottom level do not view her kindly. So, I dont think she can develop as a leader and if she grows that ambition that will be very serious and will have a great impact on AIADMK's future itself.
