Gowda takes dig at Sonia's visit to Karnataka mutt
Since Sonia has visited drought-affected area and is aware of the drought intensity, the state may get more assistance, Gowda said.

Bangalore: Taking a dig at Congress President Sonia Gandhi visiting the Siddaganga mutt, Karnataka Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Saturday said there were accusations that BJP leaders court religious mutts but now Congress leaders also do the same.

"Hitherto, BJP leaders were accused of visiting religious mutts. Now, Congress leaders have also started it", Gowda told reporters here, apparently referring to Gandhi's participation in the 105th birthday celebrations of the Siddganga Mutt seer Shivakumara Swamiji in Tumkur.

Referring to her visit to a drought-hit village in Chitradurga district for an on-the-spot assessment, the Chief Minister described it as a 'good measure' and expressed the hope that it will bring more central financial assistance for drought relief work.

"Since Congress President Sonia Gandhi has visited drought-affected area and is aware of the drought intensity, the state may get more assistance," he said.
