Lucknow: Senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh has been booked for violating the model code of conduct after he allegedly threatened to "use" the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, police said on Wednesday.
The FIR was lodged against Digvijay Singh at Mallwan police station on Tuesday night.
"The case against Digvijay Singh was registered on Tuesday night on the directions of the district administration," Hardoi Deputy Superintendent of Police BB Chaurasia said.
At a campaign rally on Monday in Mallwan locality in Hardoi, about 110 km from Lucknow, Digvijay Singh reportedly said the Central Government would "use" the CBI against Mayawati if she continued to harass Congress workers.
