New Delhi: After the Supreme Court rapped Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung for delay in government formation last week, the L-G has invited Aam Aadmi Party, Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress to discuss political scene in the national capital.
L-G will hold separate meetings with the leaders of all the three political parties on Monday evening. Jung had been exploring option for inviting the single largest party in the Assembly, BJP to form government in the state after President Pranab Mukherjee gave his assent. The saffron brigade has maintained that it would decide only when it gets a formal invite.
The Congress and AAP, however, have been demanding fresh elections in Delhi.
In the 70-member Delhi Assembly, BJP and its ally hold 29 seats. AAP is the second largest party with 27 MLAs and Congress occupies just 8 seats in the Assembly.
