Congress guns for Rajasthan CM, says Vasundhara Raje signed document to help Lalit Modi stay in UK
Documents revealed that she allegedly filed application backing Modi in 2011 when she was the leader of the opposition in Rajasthan Assembly.

New Delhi: The Congress has once again intensified its demand for Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's resignation in former Indian Premier league chief Lalit Modi controversy. The Congress claimed that new documents revealed that Vasundhara signed affidavit to help Modi get the United Kingdom stay permit.

Addressing a press conference, senior party leader Jairam Ramesh said, "The curtains are off, the secret is out. Now Vasundhara Raje's signature have been authenticated. Rajasthan CM lied time and again, first she said that she doesn't know about the documents, and now her signature is validated. Rajasthan CM has not only violated laws and has also lied, she should resign immediately."

Documents revealed that Vasundhara helped Modi get permit to stay in the UK. She allegedly filed application backing Modi on August 18, 2011 when she was the leader of the opposition in the state Assembly.

The document read, "I make this statement with support of any immigration/application that Lalit Modi makes. But do so on the strict condition that my assistance will not become known to the Indian authority."

Earlier, Vasundhara had denied existence of any secret document. She had said that she doesn't remember the existence of any such paper. "I know Lalit Modi's family, I have never denied it. I don't know what documents are being referred to," Vasundhara had said.

Training guns against the Bharatiya Janata Party after it was strongly defending the Chief Minister, Ramesh said, "BJP has always maintained that if papers are produced with her signature, then she is culpable. The case of the EAM does not disappear, she has violated four laws. RSS has also come in support of Vasundhara Raje, now they should also know that she is the culprit. Signatures nails the CM. It's not a question of whether Vasundhara Raje should resign or not resign; question is when will she resign, tonight or tomorrow."

Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for being silent on the issue, Ramesh said, "PM has spoken a lot about transparency, but he has not spoken a syllable on ModiGate. PM who’s self declared champion of transparency and accountability, a man who could not stop talking on any issue one year ago, what does he (PM) have to say on this? He has got the clinching evidence, the signatures (Vasundhara Raje's) are real."

What's your reaction?
