A complaint has now been filed against Bollywood actor Aamir Khan over his statement that there is a sense of insecurity in the country and that his wife has even suggested leaving India, fearing for the safety of their kids.
The complaint has been filed at the New Ashok Nagar police station in the national capital.
This comes even as Aamir Khan's statement on intolerance has sparked a war of words between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). While the Congress is rallying behind the actor, finding more ammunition to attack the NDA government, the BJP has claimed that the actor has hurt the sentiments of people of India.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday tweeted accusing the government of branding all those who oppose the Prime Minister as unpatriotic, anti-national or motivated.
The Gandhi scion said that instead of branding those who oppose the government or the Prime Minister in these categories, the government “would do better to reach out to people to understand what's disturbing them”.
Reacting to the same, BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said that with the Congress leader backing the actor, it seems some conspiracy is at play.
Speaking at the Ramnath Goenka Awards for Journalism, Aamir Khan endorsed the move by writers and artists to return their awards to register their protest. The actor had said there's a sense of insecurity in the country and that his wife had even suggested leaving India, fearing for the safety of their child.
