Chandy writes to PM Modi over A-G Rohatgi's appearance in SC for Kerala bar owners

Thiruvananthapuram: In a major face off between the Centre and the Kerala government, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi representing Kerala bar owners in Supreme Court.

Chandy has asked the Prime Minister to not let Rohatgi appear for the next hearing. "I have already written to Prime Minister. I don't agree to the attitude of A-G. According to him, he has appeared for bar owners with the consent of Union Law Minister that is a very serious thing. My request is the Prime Minister should intervene and deny the permission to the Attorney General to appear."

Rohatgi was appealing against the Kerala High Court order which upheld the state government's decision to restrict liquor licenses to 5-star bar owners.

Slamming Chandy's comments, Rohatgi had said, "what is the big fuss about appearing in private matter when I had already taken permission of Law Ministry to do so. What is the Kerala CM afraid Of?"

What's your reaction?
