The CBI on Tuesday came out with a clarification declaring it was not under any pressure in the probe into coal allocation allegations.
New Delhi: Union Law Minister Ashwani Kumar on Tuesday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and possibly discussed the situation on the CBI coalgate report. Sources said they discussed the government's stand in case the opposition makes it an issue in Parliament.
A short while later, the CBI came out with a clarification declaring that it was not under any pressure in the probe into coal allocation allegations.
This came more than 96 hours after the Indian Express reported that the Law Minister and PMO officials had 'vetted' the CBI status report.
