Cabinet Reshuffle: Smriti Loses HRD, Ravi Shankar Gets Law
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley sheds Information and Broadcasting portfolio.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday saw some major changes in portfolios with Smriti Irani losing the high-profile HRD ministry and DV Sadananda Gowda losing the Law ministry.

Irani was shifted to the less important Textiles ministry while Prakash Javadekar, who was elevated to cabinet rank, gets the HRD ministry.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley sheds the Information and Broadcasting portfolio, which will now be looked after by Urban Development Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation minister M Venkaiah Naidu.

Anupriya Patel was made the Minister of State for health and family welfare while Ajay Tamta was made the junior minister for textiles.

BJP spokesperson MJ Akbar will join VK Singh as the minister of state for External Affairs.

Senior BJP leader Vijay Goel is the new Sports Minister.

Manoj Sinha has been made the new telecom minister and Ananth Kumar gets Parliamentary affairs.

Jayant Sinha has been given civil aviation (MoS), while MoS Arjun Ram Meghwal has been given finance and corporate affairs.
