Ahmedabad: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday said it would strengthen its organisational base in Gujarat on the lines of Delhi.
AAP leader Ashish Khetan, who announced his appointment as the observer of Gujarat, briefed reporters about the party's future plan in the state.
"Our aim is to strengthen the party cadre right from the booth level. Just like we built our cadre in Delhi, it will be done in Gujarat," he said.
"We did a historic work in Delhi and the party, which was formed just two years back, now has presence on each and every street and colony of the national capital. The traditional parties, which did politics on money and muscle power, were wiped out in Delhi," he added.
AAP was not happy with the work done on expansion and cadre building in Gujarat as the entire focus was on Delhi election, Khetan said.
"The party has now decided that over the next six months, AAP will reach each and every village, town, tehseel, ward as well as each and every city. Party's committees will be formed at the booth level," he said.
AAP has divided Gujarat into five zones- South, North, Central, Saurashtra and Ahmedabad region, Khetan said, adding, "I will conduct a tour of entire Gujarat along with four other members of my team. We will have dialogues with people and party workers."
"First of all, we will expand the party and build cadre. We will begin with zone level. Zone-level committees, district level committees will be formed and then we will make booth level committee. Later, we will do restructure in the state level committee," he said.
When asked if AAP plans to contest the local body polls in Gujarat, Khetan said it would be decided by the party's political affairs committee.
