New Delhi: The BJP Parliamentary Board meeting, to name its poll campaign team that will work under the campaign panel chief Narendra Modi, has started in New Delhi.
Sources say former party president Nitin Gadkari is likely to be named in-charge of poll bound Delhi and Rajasthan. The leaders in the board meeting are likely to discuss and finalise the election management mechanism for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. The proposals before the board include constituting sub-committees on manifesto, mobilisation and publicity.
This is the first board meeting after a series of meetings RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had with the BJP leadership.
Even though Narendra Modi has been declared campaign committee chief, no formal committee has been constituted so far. Modi had met Rajnath Singh on Wednesday night before the board meet to discuss election campaign-related work allocation and issues on which the party should take on Congress.
The parliamentary board, the party's highest decision-making forum, will also discuss BJP's strategy for the monsoon session of Parliament beginning on August 5. The Food Security Ordinance and the state of the economy are prominent issues that BJP plans to take up in the session.
