Ranveer Singh Doesn't Want To Be Known For His 'Flamboyant Fashion'; Says Deepika Pointed It Out

Gracing the first episode of season 8 dressed in monochrome, a colour palette ‘too subtle’ for a star like Ranveer, like many would point out, the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani star shared how he doesn’t want to be known for his ‘flamboyant fashion’.

Filmmaker and talk show host Karan Johar asked Ranveer Singh on the show if he sometimes feels he has to change his core for public image? Karan also added how he had done it himself, where he was wearing clothes that were not going with his image of being a filmmaker or his age. From being trolled to being told why he is wearing that, Karan asked Ranveer in the episode if he felt the pressure of “dropping the colour”?

For Ranveer who is known as a fashion icon and unapologetic when it comes to his public appearances, did he feel he had to rejig that because of “social image”? Ranveer who looked dashing on the couch in a Saint Laurent ensemble said that though he takes everyone’s opinion he does what he feels like doing. “I felt like I wanted to not wear those clothes. I didn’t want people to talk about what I am wearing. I want you to talk about my films, my acting.

I want you to talk about me. I was hoping people would get past what I was wearing,” expressed Ranveer Singh.

He further added, “It was Deepika who pointed it out to me. We were having this chat and she said ‘You know, actually you come off as this supremely confident person. But you are actually under-confident. You should stop distracting people from who you are with all these flashy clothes and that really resonated with me.”

Ranveer also mentioned that one day when he went to meet filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali dressed in black, Ranveer remembered how Sanjay thought he looked amazing. He shared how Sanjay went on to compliment him for donning a monochrome look saying, “I can see more of you.”

Ranveer also went on to share why he chose to take a break from the colourful wardrobe. “I was googling or on wikipedia and there was like… Ranveer Singh is one of the highest paid, most acclaimed Indian actors…who is also known for his flamboyant fashion. I was like when did this make it to the one-liner of me? I don’t want it,” adds Ranveer.
