Jyotiraditya Scindia Tests Positive for Coronavirus, Say Sources; Admitted to Delhi Hospital
A few BJP leaders, including Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and national spokesperson Sambit Patra tweeted their concern for Scindia and his mother, Madhavi Raje, who is also suspected to have tested positive.

BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia has tested positive for COVID-19 and admitted to a private hospital here, sources said on Tuesday. He was admitted to Max Hospital, Saket on Monday, they said.

"He has tested positive for COVID-19," a source said.

Scindia had shown some symptoms of coronavirus following which he was brought to the facility.

The development comes at a time when bypolls are due in 24 assembly constituencies and elections for three Rajya Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh. Scindia is one of the BJP candidates for the elections that were postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak and will now take place on June 19.

A few BJP leaders, including Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and national spokesperson Sambit Patra tweeted their concern for Scindia and his mother, Madhavi Raje, who is also suspected to have tested positive.

"Got the news that revered Mataji and you are not well. I pray to God that both you and Mataji recover soon," Chouhan said in a tweet.

Jaivardhan Singh, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh's son, said, "Got the information of former Union minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia and his mother Madhavi Raje Scindia not keeping well. I pray to God for their fast recovery and long life," he tweeted.

Recently, Patra was admitted to a Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon after showing symptoms of COVID-19.

Patra, who has been discharged, tweeted in Hindi on Tuesday to inform people about his return back home and said he will take some more time to recover fully.

The number of coronavirus cases in the national capital has surged in the last several days. Delhi recorded 1,007 fresh coronavirus cases on Monday taking the COVID-19 tally in the city to over 29,000-mark. The death toll due to the disease has mounted to 874.
